Ottawa Delegation advocating against child poverty

In September some of the students started to receive replies to the letters they sent to their members of parliament in June (launched a letter writing campaign last school year). One MP, Craig Scott, took the students' concerns to the House of Commons in Ottawa on September 29th. The students' concern: 1 in 7 Canadian children live in poverty. Their ask: 1 - increase minimum wage, 2 - decrease high cost of child care 3 - provide more affordable housing. My students would like to represent their class at the Student Summit and lobby to get child poverty back on the agenda in Ottawa by being part of the KTP Ottawa Delegation. As an inner city school that is multicultural and learning French as a second language my students believe they can represent this issue that affects children very strongly.

Students have committed to helping MP Rathika Sitsabaiesan with getting names for the petition to support the 2nd debate for Motion 534 on Eliminating Child Poverty.
