Community Organization Motivates Peers On Successful Teamwork COMPOST

St. Kevin’s High School Composting Program is a successful program that will be continuing into the future, thanks to the initial fund received from Green Street. Needed resources were ordered before Christmas, received upon our return to school after Christmas with our program launch taking place during the first week of March. Mid-term exam (January 29-February 5) preparation and writing delayed student preparation and presentation of the program to the school community until February, with delivery occurring in March. Since our first weigh-in of organic material on March 11, 2010, we have successfully reduced garbage by 107.41 lbs (48.82 kg). Our compost bin is almost full. Students are currently working on a Composting web page outlining the project, including our presentation video, a table of composting competition results and our intentions of expanding the program into next year.
