Greenhouse Program Community Garden

The goal of the greenhouse program is to actively involve students and staff in hands-on ‘green’ projects both indoors and outdoors, and to extend their reach to the community. An essential feature of the program is student involvement in each part of the program and supporting our local community. This includes coming up with project ideas, writing to sponsors/donors, initiation and maintenance of projects, documenting progress of projects using logs, blogging, web-design, photography and video.

Our project involves building a 1000 square foot community garden to support student learning and connecting to their environment. The garden will provide hands-on activities which will engage our students and will be a source of food which will be donated to the local food bank.

Mise à jour (3 décembre 2013)

"Over the summer, students tending the garden were able to harvest several bushels of vegetables which were donated to (and appreciated by) the Richmond Hill Food Bank.
Interest in being part of the Greenhouse program garden continues to grow among our students with many grade nines signing up to get involved with the next growing season."
