BOOK: IMAGINE A DAY

This project will be about stimulating imagination and leadership in our grade six students. Students are already working on alternative energy projects and leading younger students to conserve and become more educated energy consumers. In this project we will encourage students to use what they know about alternative energy and couple it with the imaginative scenes of the book to visualize our worlds tomorrow in descriptive words and pictures that they will present to our younger students.

This project resulted in good outcomes as it inspired our students to dream farther.

The book "Imagine a Day" was shared with the class after they completed their alternative energy research and product projects. The students enjoyed the imaginative texts and the creative drawings and were challenged to imagine what the world would look like if it was designed around sustainable development. Children drew and wrote their visions about this future and then shared their Alternative Energy projects and their creatured futures with younger students in the school.

One child commented that his dreaming and drawing was "more like a plan than a project." This type of outlined goal setting was what we hoped we would yield from the project.

Unfortunately we were unable to connect with the author of the book. Fortunately we had visits from authors Debbie Hanlon and Joan Galat, who discussed the writing, editing and publication process with students, which was our goal for a conference with Mr. Gonslaves.
