Honouring our Veterans

Students will use computers to research the names and records of veterans who joined the ranks of soldiers in World War 2. Bury, Quebec has one of the highest per capita soldier rates (132 men) for world war 2. Students will research and create one page for each soldier, consisting of their picture, information about where they served, and information about their hobbies and families before they joined. The information will be put in a scrapbook which will be kept in a room open to the public(Veteran's Lounge) in the community center. A copy of each veteran's page will be given to each veteran/family.

Mise à jour (31 octobre 2012)

Kindergarten students present their Remembrance Day works of art to the veterans and their wives.

Mise à jour (31 octobre 2012)

After our Remembrance Day ceremony, the children and veterans are provided with soup, sandwiches and doughnuts. Our students have shown great respect for the veterans and their wives. Rich conversations, jokes, exchanges of all sorts between the generations take place during this lunch. Some of the veterans who have attended our Remembrance Day assembly told us recently that we are one of the few schools that invite and honour them and that they appreciate being remembered.
