Social Justice Cafe

We would like to host a café night as a vehicle to educate both the school and the surrounding community (students, parents, neighboring schools) about the various social justice issues that envelop our world. These include local, national and international issues. Throughout the course of the year, students will learn about various local, national, and international social justice issues and have the opportunity to become “experts” in their field. Their learning will culminate during the social justice café night where they will have the opportunity to create displays showcasing their knowledge on a particular issue. We will also invite community partners representing various organizations to display their materials along with the students. In addition to preparing speeches and displays around various issues, students will also be responsible for preparing, and serving the food that will be sold at the café. All of the proceeds will go towards funding one of the community agencies in our community.
