Equity at Innisdale

Here at Innisdale we are striving to create an environment where all are welcome and feel safe being themselves. By taping in to all five senses we are going to show our school how diversity is part of being Canadian, and part of being a student at Innisdale. Students will present works of art, play music, and make food reflecting their cultural heritage.
Students will host a multicultural market in the Great Hall at our School in the fall of 2011. At the market there will be vendors with goods and wears from all different kinds of backgrounds, as well as activity centres for kids, and different community groups offering their services, or giving information about what they do in our city.

Mise à jour (14 mai 2012)

Diversity at Innisdale in 2011/2012 has been quite successful. Our Multicultural Market was not as large-scale as we hoped, so to compensate for that we created a Diversity Handbook for each department in the school. The handbook includes lesson plans and ideas for how teachers can be more diverse in their classrooms, as well as encourage students to do the same. We still did have a Multicultural Fair, where students, teachers, as well as community partners participated. We are trying to create a school environment based on equity and diversity, and above all, inclusion.
