Wolverine Greenhouse

We propose to convert a former science lab storage room into a greenhouse. We will use the greenhouse as a nursery and bedding plant facility to provide indoor plants for the school, and bedding plants for the Wolverine Community Garden.

Mise à jour (8 mars 2013)

The Wolverine Indoor Greenhouse is well under way. The students have built 3 x 4 greenhouse which sits in a former science lab facing south. The greenhouse currently houses plant rooting that will develop into indoor plants for the upstairs foyer, cafeteria and library. We are also trying to “grow” a pineapple plant and are experimenting with growing avocado! Soon, we will start the bedding plants the outdoor Wolverine Community Garden. Students and staff have taken a real interest in greening our school. The indoor greenhouse has been a great start.

Mise à jour (24 avril 2013)

The staff and students at Nelson McIntrye celebrated Earth Day by inviting the whole school to plant seeds for The Wolverine Greenhouse and summer garden. The students are looking forward to using the Casper pumpkins for the annual pumpkin carving contest in October. We also planted onions, lettuce, tomatoes, as well as a variety of vegetables. They are all in the Wolverine Greenhouse waiting to be planted when the weather warms up.
