Me to WE / PRUDE - community garden

We are planning to partner with PRUDE, who helps newcomers to Canada settle into life in Saint John, NB) We would like to partner with them and plant a garden with two families which are new to the Saint John area, teach them about growing a garden and helping them in the fall can the produce produced from this garden.

This project would encompass a number of different subject areas for not only our students but also the families which we will be connecting with.

Mise à jour (15 juillet 2019)

On June 4th 20 of our middle school leadership team along with a newcomer family to Saint John, New Brunswick help educate and plant a vegetable garden. Over the summer each of our Leadership Team will be heading into Saint John to assist this family with maintaining the garden, answering questions and supporting the family. In September the Leadership team will teach the family how to can the produce obtained from the garden and at that time we will also have lunch together at Hampton Middle School with some traditional Canadian foods provided by the students and a traditional Syrian food provided by the family. Next spring we hope to begin the process again with a new family and a new group of leadership students.
