Mental Health Fair for school and community

Students will participate in the creation and execution of a mental health fair to be held in the school gym in April. Thirty-seven agencies will attend and students and community members will be able to ask question live via twitter to our panel of experts.

Mise à jour (15 mai 2017)

We contacted 37 agencies and extended invitations for their participation in our First Annual Mental Health Fair. We reached out to agencies in the Peel Region, as well as Mental Health agencies across Canada. We also reached out to several high profile speakers to see if we could have them in to speak. However, we soon discovered that this needed to be done a year in advance in order to secure them. (We are planning for next year and reaching out to speakers now)

Mise à jour (18 mai 2017)

Our First Annual Mental Health Fair at Sir John A MacDonald Middle School was a huge success. We had over 17 community organizations come and share their services and supports. These included:
Rapport Youth Services
Tangerine Walk-In Counselling
AYSP
ECLYPSE Youth Services
Catholic Family Services of Peel
CMHA
Brampton Library
Family Association for Mental Health Everywhere
Learning Disability Association of Peel
MIAG- Centre for Diverse Women and Families
Broadening Horizons
Unique Abilities in Action
Century Gardens
Big Brothers Big Sisters
Youth Substance Abuse Program

This event was held on Wednesday May 3, 2017 to celebrate and recognize Children's Mental Health Week. We also held a community BBQ and French Cafe to bring more members of the community in to learn about Mental Health in our children and youth.

We also provided staff, students and members of the public with Green Mental Health ribbons.
