Social Action Project

All of our grade ten students at Robert Thirsk High School complete the Social Action Project, in which they are required to research issues of global concern. Once their research is complete they must make a plan of action for their problem, then work to alleviate those problems. Students volunteer, and/or raise money and awareness for their chosen issues/organizations.

Update (June 29, 2016)

Grade ten students have volunteered throughout semester two as a part of their Social Action Project. In anticipation of the celebration event, students made preparations.

Update (June 30, 2016)

Students at RTHS conduct their Social Action Projects over several months in the second semester of grade ten.
As a part of our continued commitment to school wide Social Action, all of our grade ten students (more than 400), participated in the 2016 Social Action Project. In our third year of existence, Robert Thirsk High School has made significant strides in ensuring that our students leave us as engaged, ethical and committed citizens.
Our students volunteered, raised awareness and funds for a wide variety of charitable organizations and causes.

The tally of hours volunteered and funds is included here.

In addition to hours volunteered and money raised, students collected thousands of items for donation, including over 1300 books, hundreds of items of clothing and several boxes of food for the Calgary Food Bank.
