Learning From The Past To Fuel The Future

Students will learn about traditional ways in which to plant and farm crops through a visit to the local historical settlement, King's Landing. Students will then use their knowledge to teach schoolmates and plant an edible classroom. The school will then share the food produced with needy families within the community.

Update (May 13, 2016)

Students have met several time to discuss the purpose of their upcoming trip to King's Landing. They are excited to learn about traditional means of growing vegetables.

Our trip had to be rescheduled and will now take place on June 16th.

We will begin preparing the planting boxes in the school yard during the first week of June (weather permitting).

We will hold information and planting sessions beginning on June 17th.

Update (June 16, 2016)

Students visited King's Landing today and learned about traditional methods of planting, as well as some traditional tools that were used. They had a wonderful time and cannot wait to share all that they have learned and do some planting!

Update (June 27, 2016)

Last week students took part in a planting session at the school. They had a lot of fun and cannot wait to see their plants once they have grown!
