Sharing the Love

As part of an on going project, Netagamiou school Students in
partnership with the Chevery senior Citizens have been
reaching out to various community members who are shut-ins
and can not get out to enjoy the day to day activities of our community.
As well as visiting and working with the shut-ins, the students, bake and
share their bounty with the aged population of Chevery who
live on a limited income and can not always
buy the proper nutritious food because
of a lack of income. We have had some small
fundraisers to help support our project but we are in need of some basic
kitchen and technological equipment to continue our endeavours. Some of the new parts
include increasing the fresh fruit and fiber in the diet of the seniors
by creating a smoothies with the seniors in their home. We will need a portable blender.
While the students are in the seniors home they will be recording stories on video
tape to include in a video diary that will become part of the video library in Chevery.

Mise à jour (27 mai 2016)

The project is a huge success. We have been visiting the seniors on three separate occasions and we have one more to complete in June. We sang Christmas Carols and delivered Christmas treats to 10 different seniors. We also went at Easter and in early spring.

Mise à jour (31 mai 2016)

Well today is the last day of our project we are visiting all the seniors with a final treat and visit. The students made 13 loves of bread, 11 muffins and various other goodies to share with the seniors. They also created cards of friendship to share with their now, senior friends. we are also distributing rocks painted with hearts in various places all over the village so that when someone finds one they will feel the love of our group.
