Facility Greening

We, as a school team are researching, designing and implementing a regenaration/greening of our school facility. It includes grading for water conservation and planting of native species for shelterbelts/water rentention,beautification and sustainability. The project will be carried out by our volunteer group including students, teachers, community volunteers and school board members. Future development will include an outdoor classroom.

Update (February 23, 2012)

Our school greening project has moved forward slowly as we get approval from our local government to build our outdoor classroom/community picnic area. We have enlisted the help of different community groups and busisnesses including PCDC (Pinawa Community Development Committee), Martin Hiller Contracting and a parents group who are providing support in such areas as designing and drafting the building plans, plant selection and even construction of our building. Local business Granite Mountain has donated three granite tables (one installed so far) and granite slabs for the flooring of our classrrom and pathways around the grounds.
