Building Imagination at the Public Library

For our project we decided to give kids a chance to let their imagination and creativity fly! Our local library asked if we could supply them with Lego for children that attend. All the children will have access to building, creating and using their imaginations. Not all children have access to enough food, clothes, or sports teams, art or music lessons.

Our goal is alleviate child poverty and put a smile on a child’s face. We would like to give presentations to community members (school, library, senior centre) about our experience in Ottawa - sharing about child poverty, and becoming involved in community action.

By supplying the Bruno Wheatland Library with Lego blocks we are one step closer to making a difference. No child should have to experience poverty, we feel that access to Lego is one way to balance opportunities for more children. Poverty is something that should not have to happen, but we can all help by doing what we can to stop it.

The local Public Library was able to purchase Lego for the youth in the region to have opportunities to play together and explore with Lego bricks. This is a point in our town where youth of all backgrounds can meet on a level 'playing field'. Poverty is present in our region and this is one small way to relieve some of the inequity for our youth.
