Butterfly Garden

Our project will be the creation of a Butterfly Garden.
We will purchase caterpillars, feed them and showcase the life cycle to our students.
When the butterflies hatch we will release them into our community garden that is adjacent to our school.

This project will give the students the opportunity to study more closely a life cycle that they are somewhat familiar with. The caterpillars will come to us, we will simulate their habitat and allow the students to observe them until they complet

The students of St. Gregory are growing with excitement. We invited the High school students in to help us build butterfly huts. Then we had Mary Lambert entertain us with her Go Green Presentation. She did a very educational sing-a-long to help remind us how to take care of our Earth. Our butterfly larvae have now arrived and every classroom has ten vials with growing caterpillars. One classroom even has the chrysalis stage already. Can't wait to see the butterfly!

Our project was successful school wide. Lots of Painted Lady Butterflies around the area. The students were overjoyed to see such a magical site. It inspired lots of other educational opportunities. A project I would encourage others to do. Thanks Imagineaction for your financial contribution to get us going.
