At this time, we have not partnered with any outside organizations as we are trying to see who might be interested. As our school does not have a lot of discretionary income, we are hoping that this grant would help get us started and allow us to use the information we will collect during this project, to help us recruit outside interest in our project that will help sustain our project into the future.

Coronation is Getting into Coron-ACTION!

Coronation Public School is entering a school year surrounded by change. The two most significant changes to the community is the welcoming over 80 new students from a neighboring school, and the second is the numerous staffing changes; including more than 12 new staff members and new administration. Although our population is small, our needs are high and we would like to have the opportunity to continue to build upon our students sense of community and enhance our culture of learning through providing a nutritional break program that promotes inclusivity and cooperative play, while providing a peer-led program that will help keep students active and engaged in learning about math. Our intermediate students are responsible for developing, promoting, and implementing a lunchtime program that will not only help keep students active, but also help them to work on their fundamental math skills. This pairing of fitness and mathematics is a strategy identified as a way that would help improve the attitude towards math by using fitness to engage student’s bodies and ultimately, their minds. We would take the time to plan the project so it would be up and running for January. Students would need to design, purchase, and or make the equipment necessary for the programming to take place and meet the needs of the students of Coronation Public School. We hope that this grant money will afford us the opportunity to help kick start our program and help our students become the students of Coron-Action!
