KodiCrafters Craft Club

I would like to expand our current monthly KodiCrafters Craft Club to include being able to invite some community members from our local developmentally disabled group homes. Our club is currently open to students in Grades 4-6. We get together once a month to create a craft, socialize, and enjoy each others' company. I would love to open this up to guests in our community, in order to create some inclusiveness and build some relationships within our school and small town.

Update (May 22, 2012)

The KodiCrafters Craft Club have recently met to make Song Lyric T-Shirts. We used regular cotton t-shirts, choose our favourite poem or song lyrics, and wrote the lyrics on the t-shirts, using special blue gel glue. After allowing the t-shirts to dry for 3 days, we placed the t-shirts in a dye bath. When the t-shirts were washed and dried, we had amazing t-shirts with our favourite song lyrics emblazoned on them!

Andy, our special guest from LCDS, has joined us for our last few craft projects. His t-shirt included the lyrics to his favourite song, Don't Worry, Be Happy. We hope he's enjoying his time with us, socializing and creating with our junior students.

Update (October 13, 2012)

We had a very successful year with the KodiCrafters Craft Club. Along with our guest from LCDS, we embarked on a year's worth of "high-end" craft projects which culminated in our students making wood and canvas beach chairs for our final project. It was wonderful to be able to work together to produce beautiful things!
