Schoolyard Naturalization

Over the past two years we have been working on a project entitled Schoolyard Naturalization. Last year we were able to purchase recycling bins as well as seven blue spruce trees for our school yard. Over the past two years our school has developed a Green Team and we have a recycling committee and a student leadership group that takes care of this. This year our goal is to build an outdoor classroom for our students, It will be a gazebo type of classroom that students and teachers can avail of when certain outcomes in different subjects have to be covered in the outdoor environment. We hope to plant wild flowers around the gazebo as well to Naturalize our playground and continue to make it a greener space.

Update (October 22, 2012)

We are very pleased to say that we now have an outdoor classroom in our schoolyard. We also planted three more trees in our schoolyard. Teachers and students have already availed of this classroom and it appears to be a great success.
