Our (hi)Story

LISTEN, I READ
BOOK: INDIAN HORSE
AUTHOR: RICHARD WAGAMESE

Students will use their literacy skill to engage in participatory action research and project healing into the school and Nation as a whole.
Students will record and claim an aspect of a tramautic historical context that they see apparent in the Nation: addiction, mental illness, lateral violence, etc. The recording of a story will come from someone that they are connected to who attended residential school. Students will make and produce a video relating to how these past traumas affect the Nation at present time. Students will actively engage in acknowledging what it will take for Nations to transform to wellness. Students will present to whole school and various programs.

In order to obtain stories of such content students will have to present proper traditional protocol. In some cases the stories will have to be translated into english from Cree.
