What's in a Relationship?

LISTEN, I READ
BOOK: YUCK, A LOVE STORY
AUTHOR: MARIE-LOUISE GAY

The students will examine and discuss different emotions they feel towards each other as they grow. Role playing different scenarios of using positive action choices when dealing with peers. The students will engage in character sketches, story maps and tableau's to help understand the story.
The students will then conclude the project by making a video talking about positive ways of dealing with your emotions and how important it is that we are all unique and different as Children of God. The videos can then be shown to other grades within the school. The students will also compile anonymous letters of hope that will be sent out in the surrounding inner city area community of the school, for random acts of kindness week.

Update (February 15, 2012)

The grade 6 class just received their class set of Yuck its a Love story. Students have read the story and are now in the process of how they would like to present their photo story. We will be contacting the author soon as the students are excited for this!

Update (June 21, 2012)

The grade 6 class at Mother Teresa worked hard sharing Yuck a Love Story with the younger grades at school. After reading and discussing the book the students decided to go out and read the story to other classes. After the reading the students interviewed 3 students asking them if they have any crushes, their favorite part of the story and what do they do for people that they love. The grade 6 students had a lot of fun with this as did the other classes!
