Leadership Project - Changing the World Begins with Me

LISTEN, I READ
BOOK: IMAGINE A DAY
AUTHOR: ROB GONSALVES

My students are choosing to make the world a better place. In groups, they are selecting a cause which will improve the world - this could be locally (home or community), provincially, nationally or globally. The project outcome must be measurable.

Update (March 28, 2012)

We have received our books by Rob Gonsalves called Imagine a Day. My students read through another book by this author called Imagine a Night. They were impressed by the artwork, although many found it "creepy". I am looking forward to their reactions to Imagine a Day. We are hoping to connect via Skype in the next two weeks with Rob Gonsalves.

My students have all selected a project whereby they will improve the world in some way. The projects vary from improving playground manners to fund-raising for a Me to We project.

Update (June 25, 2012)

Students completed their projects and had an open house on June 26.

Update (September 26, 2012)

We actually had a classroom visit with Rob Gonsalves. My students were extremely excited and asked him lots of questions about how he gets inspired and how his paintings are finished.

He signed each of their books and each student who was interested, had their picture taken with him. They told him about their leadership projects.

My students finished their leadership projects and many carried the projects through to completion, making a difference in the world. We made videos recording their project goals and accomplishments. Unfortunately, the file would not upload to this site so we can't share it.
