Community Partners:
Our partner community organizations will be numerous as our intent is to have our students select a different organization each month. These organizations will be researched and presented to our student body in an effort to help others become aware of the various needs in our community. In talking with some of our students they have already identified Martha's Table a non profit charitable organization that provides low cost nutritious meals to those in need (613-546-0320), and Dawn House Women's Shelter (613-545-1379) as possible organizations that could be supported.

Becoming Agents of Change

This project will see our intermediate students work in collaborative groups of three or four researching areas in our community that would benefit from our assistance. Each month a different group of students will be required to research and present to the intermediate student body an organization that will be supported by the group. Working together, the intermediate division will strategize ways to best support the targeted organization. Our goal is to bring to the forefront of our school community not only the varying needs in our community but to also demonstrate how we can provide for these organizations. While the obvious solution in many instances would be to provide financial aid to groups in need, our hope is that our students will come to learn and espouse that there are many other ways to provide aid. Many efforts have been made to help our students recognize the importance of becoming social advocates for those in need. They are encouraged to see themselves as stewards of the greater community. We see this project as an opportunity for our students to build relationships within the community, to become active, social conscious citizens who are able to attend to issues of poverty, health and wellness of others and sustainability of the environment. Ultimately, our goal is to instill in our intermediate students a desire to become leaders within our community.
