Green school yard and community gardens

We will be adding to the two small community gardens installed last year. Further, we will be creating a compost and adding trees to act as a windbreak.

We have invited the community to enjoy our school yard. Students will care for the gardens and trees.

Update (October 6, 2011)

We built 3 new community gardens in May and June of 2011. Students helped with the construction, filling the gardens with soil and planting seeds and plants.

Update (October 6, 2011)

Spring planting.

Update (January 29, 2012)

It has been interesting to watch how respectful the students have been to the gardens during the winter. The students know that they helped to create the gardens, planted and tended the gardens and harvested them in the fall. They are beginning to get excited about spring planting and it is only January!
