WAKE UP! (Social Action Awareness)

We want to start a social action team that will involve students, teachers, parents and community. We would like to to offer our students and our community opportunities to become more aware of social issues that they can help make a difference with. Ultimately, we want to begin the process of developing socially conscious individuals who are committed to making a positive change to their world. This will also inspire personal growth and leadership.

Update (June 5, 2012)

It has been a fantastic year at our school with the establishment of our Social Action Team. We started with a small group who met frequently to plan activities which encouraged positive social change in our school. Our team quickly grew to about thirty students and five core members, who were passionate about connecting with the entire student body, as well as the school community. Our imagineaction funds helped us purchase T-Shirts, videos and material to get started. We raised awareness and funds for many organizations in our community, including, the homeless, CNIB, Coats for Kids, Baby supplies drive, food bank, to name a few. We are excited to grow our team even bigger next year and to broaden our initiatives to impact a positive social change on a larger scale!
