Interpretive Panel for "Real" Garden
Barrington Municipal High School has a very active environmental club since 2006, we have just recently received the Gulf of Maine Visionary Award. One of our key projects is the REAL (Restorative Environmentally Aware Landscape) Memorial Garden. This is an innovative idea of not mowing and letting the native plants be restored, of which we have identified over 90 varieties. This area becomes an 'outdoor classroom' and a great 'biology lesson'. Local community groups and individuals are interested in and able to access this area. Considerable work has been done to plant shade trees and provide 'rock' seating in this area. There is also further expansion of a 'walking trail' on our school site which also becomes an outdoor classroom. Both of these areas, in order to reach their potential, need interpretive signage.
