DHS Garden Project

The garden project will involve a variety of students and subjects constructing and maintaining a greenhouse and garden plots within the school year to harvest. The fenced garden area will also contain a compost bin and a solar garden shed. The solar shed will allow students to further understand and investigate the importance of alternative energy, where the compost bin can be used by the cafeteria and community. The planting and care of the garden would be under the applied sciences and special education/ alternative programming. The construction of the various projects will be completed by various grades in the construction classes. Produce from the garden will be sold and or donated to the Dryden community garden or food bank.

Update (June 29, 2011)

DHS Greenhouse

The greenhouse and food plots have been constructed with the protective fencing.
The Dryden Youth group will use the plots to grow a variety of vegetables throughout the summer. Although the greenhouse was late being completed it will serve to grow some items this summer/fall.
