A Culture of Kindness

“A Culture of Kindness" is an initiative of the School Counsellor and Safe & Caring Committee. We hope to build on the safe and caring climate in our school by discussing Virtues on a monthly basis and doing school wide classroom based activities during Pink Day in February. We are hoping that the proactive approach to focus on how to be a good friend versus how NOt to be a bully will be reiterated through our activities while also allowing the opportunity for team building.

Update (March 5, 2019)

As a way to elaborate on our Virtue of the Month, Kindness, on Feb 27th as part of our PINK day celebrations our entire students and staff participated in team building and co-operative games as a way to foster a kindness climate. The emphasis of our day and theme was building a "Culture of Kindness" by teaching and celebrating how to be a kind person as opposed to focusing on how not to be a bully. Each class partook in fun team building activities in a rotation around the school.
Students had fun and we used our Imagineaction Social Action Projects grant from the Canadian Teachers Federation to help support this day celebrating Kindness.

Update (March 5, 2019)

Students had an absolute blast during their day of Kindness activities. It was a full school partaking in Activities fostering kindness with visits to the Principals office for their Selfie Scavenger Hunt to creating Acts of Kindness Hearts.
