A Day of Wellness

Our staff has identified the need for supports for our students and community in all areas of healthy living. Due to being a fair distance away from the nearest city, often families cannot access support services.
To encourage positive lifestyles and behaviours, mental resiliency and mindfulness, our school is orgainizing a wellness day for our students, staff, and local community. External organizations will be invited into the school to set up displays and have conversations with students, staff and community members about healthy living, mindfulness, and positive living.
All participants will receive take away information as well as be able to participate in the activities organized throughout the day. Displays will be open for all classes to visit during the day. Parents and other community members will be invited into the school during the evening.

Update (July 10, 2018)

Our entire school participated in our first Mental Health Day where K-5 and Grades 6-8 students were put into groups and visited various classrooms to participate in a wide range of activities. Some activities were water stations, yoga, mindful bottles, effects of smoking/vaping, Village of Hope presentation on making good choices, meditation, etc. The students enjoyed the day and our school leadership group is working towards planning another day next year.
