Science is Wonderful!

In our small community of less than 300 people, children are not exposed to a wide variety of Math and Science jobs. The children of our school do not see Science or Math as something that they are good at or could be successful in, if they chose it as their course of studies. As a school we are striving to connect children with these courses by creating a Math and Science club after school as well as an in school Science Fair that will be open to the community.

Update (March 29, 2018)

The project went well. The Science fair was a success and the money went to buy materials to help our class grow in the math and science areas. For the science fair, we had all Elementary participate in the fair and all students in Secondary came to see the fair. Our projects include magnetism, physical and chemical changes, air pressure, electricity and lie detecting.

Update (June 5, 2018)

The Science project was a success. The materials were used in Science and in Math classes. The cusinaire rods were well used in fraction and number ten concets and our Kindergarten were adding numbers up to 20 with the rekenreks. Conceptual math and the STEAM concepts make hands on learming so effective.
