Why Fair Trade?

Students of our newly formed Sustainability group have decided that they would like to apply to have our school Fair Trade certified. We have a number of awareness events planned for the general student body as well as for our "family of schools" - 4 elementary schools and 1 middle school.

Update (February 15, 2017)

On Valentine's Day we sold Fair Trade roses as our first event on our road to becoming a Fair Trade school. On Friday, we will begin Fair Trade coffee and hot chocolate sales.

Update (June 20, 2017)

On May 24, 2017, St. James Collegiate became designated at Winnipeg's first Fair Trade School.

We had a very successful year selling Fair Trade hot chocolate and baking and roses for Valentine's Day. We held several Fair Trade awareness events throughout the school year.
