Fair Trade School Steering committee activities

We have created a Fair Trade steering committee made up of 4 students 3 staff members and 1 administrator. In addition, we have 24 student volunteers willing to help with events. We hope to involve the 50 - 60 other students in Leadership and the Interact Club. We will be having regular events at school to raise awareness about fair trade and to promote fair trade products. We have instituted Fair Trade Fridays. Every Friday before school, we serve Fairtrade coffee, tea, hot chocolate and sugar. We are also having a banana split event to celebrate Fair Trade Month and hopefully being awarded our school's Fair Trade designation. We have already come up with other products to serve throughout the year and are excited for other events we will come up with. We would like to make some reusable mugs with fair trade graphics on them Fair Trade Canada to serve our beverages in. (we have a sublimation machine at our school that we can use to make them) Our school is a UNESCO Associated School and these events not only are good to do on their own merit, but they also fit into our UNESCO mandate.
