Family Fun Night

Our class is running a business through Entrepreneurial Adventure. Our business is a Family Fun Night with snacks and games. The proceeds that we raise will go to the Manitoba Underdogs Rescue, which helps dogs with no homes. We want to support this charity because it gives the dogs homes and love even before they get adopted, by volunteers fostering the dogs. We will learn leadership skills, budgeting skills, teamwork skills, advertising and fundraising skills, and we will work with people in our community to make our event successful.

Update (June 1, 2016)

Our class ran a business to raise money for Manitoba Underdogs Rescue. We ran this business with the support of the Learning Partnership through the Entrepreneurial Adventure Program. Our class worked in 6 teams, for which students had to apply and interview, including Administration and Finance, Sales and Marketing, Refreshment, Entertainment, Emergency, and Site Team. The students sold tickets to a Family Fun Night for $3 each and planned, prepared, and ran the event. Families attended to play a variety of fun games. Students also sold refreshments at the event (purchased by the teacher, but chosen by students). Leftover refreshments and more refreshments (later purchased with the remaining money from the subsidy) were sold to students during recess for $0.25 - $1 per item.

Update (June 1, 2016)

In total, our class raised $1 548.15 for Manitoba Underdogs Rescue. About $300 and some change came from donations, $600 from tickets sales, and another $600 from refreshment sales. For more information, please check out our class blog: team15linwood.blogspot.ca
We shared our project at the Entrepreneurial Adventure Showcase on May 25, 2016 at the Fairmont Hotel and had a great time! We also learned about projects from students sharing from other schools.
