Youth Supporting Youth Mental Health Awareness

For our project as a class, we are designing a Cookbook that will be filled with recipes from the community our school exists within (Greely), school families and school staff. Recipes will be healthy and the cookbook will contain statistics of mental health (verified by Royal Ottawa Hospital), exercises, positive thinking quotes and pictures. Students are also hosting a Paint Nite at our school on APril 9 for the whole community to educate about youth mental health in a non-traditional manner. All funds raised through student initiative by way of donations and paint nite attendance will be donated to the "Do It For Daron" organization!

Update (June 20, 2016)

This was an entrepreneurial project where students worked alongside a
local business man to manufacture, advertise and sell a product and service. The grade 5/6 class chose to make a cookbook and hold a paint nite and donate funds to the Do It For Daron organization. This organization supports mental health awareness in youth! The cookbook contained 120 recipes from school and community members and local businesses! The students collected recipes and designed the book which including nutrition tips, facts on mental health on youth and positive thinking quotes! All together, they raised $2005 for DIFD!
