Smart Shopper: To objective of this program is to get students to think before the purchase, specifically to get them to make ethnical choices. As part of our global education program, students learn about who makes products and the hidden cost of those products. Students will learn about companies and organizations that promote fair trade and the goal is for them to be more aware consumers.

Update (April 6, 2016)

As part of our social studies unit, we began discussing fair trade practices especially, the use of child labour. Students were motivated to use social media as a form of activism. Students are engaged as the learning is real to them.

Update (May 31, 2016)

As part of our social studies curriculum, students have participated in a variety of learning activities that made me more informed global citizens. Students research Canada's trading partners who exploits workers and they informed their parents to make better consumer choices. Our goal is to have a community food fair to showcase student work and to have a booth to inform members of the community. We wanted to expand our message outside of the classroom.
