Let'sTalk: Mental Health Week

Mental Health Awareness Week: The objective of this program is to engage students by getting them to talk about mental health and to participate in a variety of activities to end the stigma around mental health.

Update (April 6, 2016)

During the month of January, we had a "Lets Talk Campaign". We read various public service announcements to the students. We are planning a poster contest to create awareness for mental health. Students are excited about this project.

Update (May 15, 2016)

We have designated May as the entire month for mental health awareness at our school. We are using a variety of mediums to create awareness about mental health. We are using announcements in the morning,we are posting flyers to start the conversion. Moreover, we are sharing digital resources with our colleagues to use in their classrooms.

Update (November 23, 2016)

We have started the discussion about mental health at our school. We have various programs to support students throughout the school day and we have integrated mental health into our language program. One of the documentaries we have used to create awareness about getting support for mental health is the following : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MuEsivBKGE.

Update (November 23, 2016)

We continued to ensure that mental health is part of our program at our school. One of the things we did was to take students on various field trips. Our students often feel isolated in their communities. We have used funds to help encourage students to look for opportunities outside of their communities.
