Operation Soup Kitchen

As a way of engaging students who are part of the Me 2 We Club at the school in local initiatives and creating an awareness of social issues in our local community, the group will volunteer at a local Soup Kitchen. The expected outcome is that all the students will have an opportunity to give back to their local community and become more sensitized to the plight of people who are less fortunate. Social consciousness is the main goal.

Update (May 30, 2011)

Thanks a million for providing this funding. I want to personally thank you all for creating opportunities to my students that they would otherwise not have been exposed to in their everyday life. Through this subsidy I was able to bring to fruition my goal of getting the members of the Me 2 We Club at my school more conscious of social issues such as poverty and homelessness in our local community. Transporting the students to the local Food Bank as well as to the Soup Kitchen provided valuable experience and lessons that I'm sure will have a lasting impact even as they move on to high school. Through your generosity, the lives of several young people have forever been transformed. Having had the chance to come in contact with real-life issues relating to poverty, they are more resolved to be active agents of change. They are more empowered with the knowledge that despite their age they can make a big difference in this world. Thank you so much!

Students on a trip to the local Food Bank. While there, the students sorted food items, clothes and toys and interacted with some of the clients.
