GUYS SING!
GUYS SING originated as an extension of our School Growth Plan of engaging students who are falling behind in learning (especially literacy in male students). It has grown to include over 40 boys from grades 4-7 who perform music geared to their interests (mainstream repertoire with experimentation in less predictable genres). This group will perform at various community organizations (public concerts, school board functions, and retirement homes), and at school (as role models for other students). It is a musical group that has not been present in elementary schools in our Board of Education in the past, which adds to its value as a unique experiment and opportunity. This group brings together teachers, musical artists, and students to create and learn from each other.
