Students advocacy in the Community

We will be creating a student advocacy group, with the goal of getting students more involved in their community. We will be acquiring resources to establish a core group of involved stuents in the school, who will reprsent their fellow classmates this year and in years to come.
Our School Development Plan is focused strongly on fostering and encouraging/rewarding voluntarism and involvement by our students, so this project will fit under that umbrella.
Working with community non-profit and governmental agencies, students will meet periodically to raise concerns related to social justice that they see as being a concern in their community. These concerns will be taken to community partners (municipal government and Lion's Club for starters), to make sure youth voices and concerns are being heard.
Our seed money will be used to carry out an event or awareness activity at the end of the year in collaboration with these community partners
