Keep the Promise

Our school-community social action project will address the issue of poverty in our community through multiple ideas. In collaboration with our school's "Me to We" club, we plan to deliver a hot lunch to our Elders, provide snow removal for Elders and families in our community, make Christmas ornaments for Elders, and hold a food drive to donate to the city's food bank. In addition, we'd like to support our peers and youth by holding a day-long "gamers" fundraiser, where all proceeds will go towards holding a clothing "swap & shop" and community youth dance.

Update (December 17, 2015)

Ethan and Calvin decided on various events through the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year, with the ultimate goal of raising awareness of poverty and to raise funds to help support members of our community. They hosted a garage sale, a student games day, kids bingo, and 2 school dances. In September 2015, Ethan and Calvin followed through with their plan to purchase blankets by selecting 10 families from the community to receive them. The blankets were purchased with the fundraised monies, and on December 15th, Calvin and Ethan delivered them.
