Gr. 5 Boogie Boarding to Save Paper

Schools use reams of paper every day. Wouldn't it be great if we could reduce the number of trees we needed and also improve student achievement? Last year, St. Richard school purchased one Boogie Board LCD writing tablet for each class and asked the following questions:
• If every student had a Boogie Board (LCD Writing Tablet), what kinds of things could we do with this tool to save paper and the environment?
• How many copies in total have we used (204 students) ?
• If one ream of paper (500 sheets costs about $15 to copy) how many boxes would it take to save $5000?
We plan to start saving the environment by reducing the number of copies we make and consume in our Grade 5 classroom. The LCD writing tablet or Boogie Board is a tree-friendly alternative to memo pads, sketchbooks, sticky notes, dry erase boards and other writing/drawing mediums that can be re-used over 50,000 times.
