Our school; the Eastern School Board; PEITF can share our success in the PEITF bulletin; we have already been asked by the Guardian, a provincial newspaper to feature an article on us as well as maybe on CBC. We need a business to sell us comforters so we are approaching Bed, Bath and Beyond, The Bargain Shoppe and Christmas Discounters.

Comforters of JoY

We need comforters.Students and staff are uniting to support kids who might otherwise not have a warm covering to comfort themselves throughout the long, cold, Island winters. This idea stems from a conversation between a grade 3 student and teacher. Indeed, kids can inspire great ideas!

Update (November 24, 2010)

We have been so busy on PEI... have brought all three school boards into the project! That means that all school children across the province will lend a helping hand to kids who may need some extra warmth this winter by contributing to our raffle... which via PEITF we will launch in the Summary next week.

Bulk Barn stores on PEI have donated 2 jumbo jars each of candy that will be raffled off on Wednesday, November 15/2010.

This week the ComfoJoY Crew at Prince Street School has joined forces with the students for Peaceful Schools Committee to create ornaments that will be sold this Friday, November 26th at the Globe World Flavours on Richmond Road in Charlottetown.

Some Book Buddy Classes at Prince Street are also joining in on that fun and any ornaments created will be sold to friends and family of grade 3C and 5B.

Indeed a hive of activity!

Stay tuned, as the grade 3s write a petition to Maritime Electric to support our campaign; after all, they ask all islanders to turn down the lights and heat and bundle up under an extra blanket... hard to do when the one ya own is holey, eh?

Update (November 24, 2010)

We now have an adorable logo that we got drawn for free! This will be the picture that boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 can colour. We are also asking pre -serviced teachers to come on board and retired teachers through the PEITF Retired Teachers Association.

We have 2 additional great sponsors... The Bargain Shoppe at the University Plaza and Christmas Discounters of PEI.

How blessed are we?

Much thanks and wishing you all,
Comforters of JoY!

Update (November 25, 2010)

We have recently secured permission with all school districts on PEI to allow students across the entire province to participate, if willing, in the Comforters of JoY Campaign! Our main venue of raising awareness and support is via the Colouring Raffle... students, teachers... (Both current, pre-serviced and retired) as well as moms and dads and grandparents can also get in on the fun! By colouring the newly created logo, (thanks to the creative team at 4imprint.ca for enhancing our vision!) mailing it in to PEITF along with a donation of 'a buck or two or even a few, ' students will feel great pride knowing that their money will go to a school of their choice to add some extra warmth and comfort to school age children across the province. A perk is a chance of winning one of 2 Jumbo Jars of Christmas candy donated by Bulk Barns of Prince Edward Island.
