The Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (2015) is the result of a six-year inquiry into the residential school system and the lasting impact of the schools. This report is the summary volume and includes the history of residential schools and the legacy of the school system. Excerpts from survivor testimonies are included. Statistical reports demonstrate the correlations between the abuse experienced by residential school survivors and the rates of alcohol abuse, drug abuse, suicide, and decline of Aboriginal languages in communities. The report provides 94 calls to action for governments, churches, public institutions and non-Aboriginal Canadians as means for reconciliation with Aboriginal citizens.
