The Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF/FCE) is proud to release the fifth booklet in the Student Voice Series, which focuses on the issue of gender diversity.

Entitled Affirming Gender Diversity, this discussion booklet for the classroom is the result of teacher led discussions with some 200 students from grades 1 to 12 throughout Canada. It contains some of the most inspiring thoughts that came out of these discussions.

Teachers are invited to use the booklet to answer questions from students around the diversity of gender and raise awareness of social concepts such as cisnormativity, cissexism, and transphobia.

Lesson plans have been developed to support the use of this discussion booklet in the classroom. Teachers may access these lesson plans freely until December 31, 2021, by clicking on the links provided below. After that date, access will only be possible through the Imagineaction website, under the Teacher Resources tab. Teachers will have to be logged in to Imagineaction to access the resources.

In closing, the CTF/FCE would like to thank the students and teachers who, through their discussions and effort, have contributed to the creation of this fifth booklet in the Student Voice Series.
